Art Pottery RepairThe work of Rookwood, Newcomb and Grueby in this country, and Zsolnay and the Wienerwerkstadt in Europe were among the high points of the Arts and Crafts movement at the end of the nineteenth century. Their subtle forms and organic glazes require an artist's eye to be properly restored. We have worked with the full range of these ceramics, from Grueby tiles and vases, to the deep, glossy Rookwood glazes. Our repairs are carried out on a base of conservation B-72 acrylic, which makes them reversible, followed by a durable HXTAL, which protects the surface from any further work that we may do. Along with the careful choice of stable pigments, we are able to say that our repairs are conservationally appropriate for the most valuable ceramics. |
